Trimming Your Palm Trees Before Hurricane Season

Palm trees are as abundant in Florida as strip malls. We see them everywhere. The most common palms that we trim in North Pinellas County are Canary Island Date Palms and Pygmy Palms. The majority of which have been planted way too close to the house. And have dangerous thorns.

Here are a couple reasons why you should get the trees and your yard cleaned tup before the next tropical storm. Even if there is no storms on the radar, keeping them trimmed will save you a ton of hassle.

Palm Thorns Suck! And Get Stuck! 
Years ago I had a plam thron go through my leg. It wound up breaking off and getting stuck on the bone. The pain was excrusiating. Could you imagine the wind gusts from a storm, how dangerous would these fronds and thorns be in the air? Their razor sharp thorns could seriously injure someone. To keep them clean is to stay proactive during hurricane season.

When Storms Hit The County Waste Facility Closes

A couple years ago we had Hurricane Debbie, Helene and Milton. The storms caused a ton of damage. Afterwards the Pinellas County Waste Facility was so backed up that they had to close. Eventually they opened up a backup facility....but the wait to get in was long. This left a ton of yard debris on the street. Waste accumulated in is hazardous.
